Living a fulfilled life is the ultimate goal anybody can ever aim for, but therein lies a serious problem.

The problem is that society has imbibed a shallow understanding of what fulfillment really means, because we barely understand it from its dictionary interpretation.

Take a look at its dictionary meaning.

Fulfillment

/fʊlˈfɪlmənt/

noun:

“the achievement of something desired, promised, or predicted.”

The key words here are desired, promised and predicted.

On the surface level, these words may seem to add brightness and positivity to its meaning, but they are unfortunately the same reasons why you’ll never feel fulfilled.

Let’s take a deeper look at each one of them.

Desire

/dɪˈzʌɪə/

noun:

“a strong feeling of wanting to have something or wishing for something to happen.”

Wanting something or strongly wishing for something to happen is tantamount to having “high hopes” for a particular outcome.
