I Just Watched The Best Talk Ever And I Want To Share The Lessons With You
It pays to have some emotional education
I came across this incredible speech by Alain de Botton on Emotional Education while browsing through the endless wilderness of YouTube videos this evening.
Alain de Botton is a modern day philosopher, writer and speaker. He founded the School of Life about 7 years ago, an institution dedicated to teach adults how to handle their emotions better.
I’m not promoting his work for any benefits whatsoever but I highly recommend you watch the talk. And if you don’t have time to watch the video, then here are some insights that resonated the most with me.
1. We become closer with people when we are vulnerable
Trying to tell people that life is a business that can be made ideal is the quickest way to depress them.
The best way to cheer anyone up is to tell them that life is difficult for everyone. We all suffer alone, thinking that we’re massively unique in our suffering but we’re not.
We are all broken species and we are connected in our suffering.
